- [3:18 AM] I've thought about making Marie the most feared character. But also making her the most tragic, and the end, ultimately, the most misunderstood. Somewhere, I plan for her to encounter one of her 'descendants', probably Angelo Lamberto's mom or auntie. That instead of causing her to die a horrible death (by power of the Curse), Angelo will eventually find out that her mom (or auntie) welcomed it, and has regretted nothing. Very unlike with all other people Marie have killed.

Flash scene, Marie will be shown crying for the first time because then she feels remorse for taking the life of her 'child'. A scene that confuses Angelo's mom (or auntie ... ok, let's make it auntie), until she finally realizes that Marie is their long lost protectress, tainted and alone and hurting herself over and over.

When Angelo tries to kill Marie, he will be confused because Marie will not harm him in anyway. Instead, whenever Angelo is around, Marie acts like a vulnerable child.

- [12:27 AM] I just played Guild Wars and it is a perfect place for me to role play and enhance my characters in Ang Sumpa.

Marie, is the mortal incarnation of The Curse (Ang Sumpa), and will have both necromantic and fey abilities, with fey being only just a minor facet of her overall magical prowess. As in past revision of the story, Marie is the child persona of Mariang Makiling, but can never be able to revert back.

In our story, Mariang Makiling was a nature guardian when the Filipinas archipelago sprung out of sea and borne life. Before that however, she's merely a nameless, renegade fey spirit among many, quite similar to her form as Marie. Half nymph and half sylph, wild and restless, she had found a place she grew to love and had decided to stay there.

The local inhabitants respected her and had made stories about her appearances -- until one day, she disappeared. The mountain that was her home lost some magic in it. The eerie but soothing atmosphere is gone.

What happened?

As I have written in some posts, Mariang Makiling was 'kidnapped' by a sorcerer continents away in the name of Damian Varchild. Mariang Makiling wasn't strong enough to resist him as she is considered very young compared to the guardian spirits of Europa. Helpless and in anguish, she watched herself being turned into a tainted essence, as a means to power a curse strong enough to directly affect a generation of blood-related people perpetuating to the next. A curse that while it gives a descendant a talent for necromancy, unpredictably turns them into an infernal creature.

The wizards (the salamangkeros) have learned about this terrible deed and informed Lord Varsung of Damian's act. Varsung, together with the Ibarraconmienda clan, stormed the keep where Damian held the ritual, only to find out that the curse has been cast. And that they were all too late.

Upon this event, many of the Varchild has begun to transform into creatures of nightmare. The Black Clerics were then summoned to vanquish them and has employed the Ibarraconmienda clan to be the official military arm. For a period of twenty years, they have sought and hunted members of the Varchild until all of them were wiped out. Except for two families that coincidentally, were able to flee to the place were the curse was born -- the Filipinas archipelago. The Clerics, already distrusting of the wizards, accused them for the chaos and has deemed all magic-users to be unholy.

And so, the Ang Sumpa saga begins as one of the Ibarra clan, now known now as the hunter-seekers, were able to follow them to lands newly colonized by the Spanish.
